WHICH HAND TO BE SHOWN FOR ANALYSIS
There seems to be absolutely no consensus on this question as to which hand has to be shown for analysis amongst scholars. According to Palmistry, men must show their right hand and women must show their left hand. But palmists of the modern age share a different opinion that one should show that hand which is active and which is efficient in work and deals because the hand is the indicator of mental energy, thought and nature.
Immediately after a thorough analysis in the mind, the hand automatically becomes active. For instance, during a fight or violence, automatically the hand responds to the stimuli and corresponds to the mental situation. Thus, the hand reflects ones decision-taking tendencies, ideology etc.
Modern palmistry believes that the right hand should be efficient in work and deals. But there are many men and women whose left hand is efficient than their right hand. In today's world women have ousted men in many spheres of life. One even sees the activity of the right hand instead of the left hand. So one can infer that the right hand of women represents the vital mental energy and thoughts. One can also see the activity and agility of the left hand over the right hand and represents the mental thought and energy of the person. Here the right hand of the person becomes negligible because there are thoughts that emerge in the mind and immediately, the left hand becomes agile and active. In such cases, the left hand is active and agile.
In this way, modern palmists have unlike Palmistry mentioned in Saamudriha Shastra have considered the Karma factor in the modern era and have emphasised that one should consider this before analysis and prediction.
Many a palmists are of the opinion that the left hand of a man represents the past life and the right hand represents the presently performed Karma (deed). In the same way, the left hand of the woman represents the presently performed Karmas and the right hand represents past Karma.
Another opinion, which is fast becoming conspicuous is that the left hand is an indicator of inheritance and paternal property wealth and Karma and one benefits because of this till 35 years of age. Till the age of 35 years, one is independent on the merits and demerits of paternal property and wealth and only after 55 years does one start bearing the influence or effect of one's deeds or Karma. Only then does the right hand become active. This same rule applies to women as well.
This basically is an old theory but according to modern palmistry, there is difference of age.
There is a general belief that the right hand of a man indicates his fortune and his Karma and his left hand signifies his wife. In the same way, the left hand of a woman represents the fortune and her Karma and the right hand signifies her husband. When and how did this belief come into existence is itself questionable and we do not have any evidence whatsoever.
Cumulatively, one infers that one should analyze that hand of a man or woman who is active and agile which is apt in expression of one's thoughts and emotions and his/her other hand signifies the benefit/evil effects of the past life. In this way, one should consider both, the positive and negative points of fate and Karma and should cumulatively answer all questions only after studying the pros and cons of both the hands in totality.
