Our hands are used not just for washing, cooking, to carry weights and other type of work or to enjoy the happiness and pleasure of material life but as a mirror of all the deeds performed from the past birth to the present birth. Thus, the hand is an instrument to solve mysteries of life related to the past, present and future.
We can see all the merits and demerits of all our deeds on our hands. It can also determine, what should we do in the future and what we should not. It denotes all the questions and answers of our life.
We can understand life through palmistry that is the reason why it is considered divine and our scholars have said that one should see his hand immediately when he gets up in the morning.

The structure of the human body itself is the structure of the entire universe. In the same way as there are changes and transformations taking place because of planets in the universe, there are also changes in the body because of the effect of planets.
There are different regions or spots on the body and palm which are associated to different planets and these planets continuously transform situations and us. The position of these points is as follows :
The region from the base of the thumb to the wrist, the bulged portion is known as the 'Venus Mount'. Exactly opposite of the 'Venus Mount' (region of Venus) is the mount of moon planet. Just below the index finger is the region of the planet Jupiter, below the middle finger is the region of the planet Saturn. Below the ring finger is the region of planet Sun and below the little finger is the region of planet mercury. The region of Mars
- is between the mount of Apollo (Moon) and Mercury and the region of Mars
- are between the thumb and region of Jupiter. It means there are 2 regions of Mars.
Between the mounts of Venus and Moon is the region of Ketu while the region of Rahu is exactly in the centre of the palm.

Our ancient scholars have classified the analysis of the palm into 2 parts or segments.
- Structure of the palm
- Lines of the palm
The following things should be considered while analyzing the structure of the palm.
- The structure of the palm, its breadth and width.
- The structure of fingers.
- The length of the fingers.
- The type of nails.
- The flesh of the palm/smoothness/roughness of palm.
- The thumb and its structure.
- Smooth or rough, its flexibility.
- Having pores or cushioned.
On this basis, the merits and demerits of one's nature can be analyzed and predicted.
Palm Lines : The following things have to be analyzed for prediction.
- Life line.
- Fate line.
- Mars line.
- Travel lines.
- Cross lines.
- Girdle of Saturn/Jupiter.
- The expanse of the planets.
- The different mounts.
- The wrists (girdles around).
The hands can be classified into 7 categories based on the structure of the hand
- Primary Hand
- Square Hand
- Philosophical Hand
- Spatulate Hand
- Conical Hand
- Ideal Hand
- Composite Hand
1) Primary Hand/Dull Hand: -
This type of hand is usually shapeless, odd and is thick and rough. It is very heavy also. The nails are very short and the fingers are also equally short. This indicates a person having animal instincts and is a person of less intellectual growth. Such people are interested in eating and drinking and are people doing mental labour. These people lack aesthetic sense and often indulge in violence to get what they desire. They are people who have a lot of sexual instincts. Such people often possess a small and thick thumb. The first phalange of the thumb is square shaped heavy and bulged. Such people are not clever but often do possess some amount of cunningness. They lack reasoning capabilities. They often perform evil deeds when not in control and in a fit of rage and do not hesitate in doing so.
With the spread of formal education everywhere, it is not right to label this type of hand as having animal instincts but one can definitely see such instincts partially if not totally in such people.
2) Square Hand :-
In this type of hand, the width of the palm is proportional to its breadth. The portion of the fingers having the nails is squarish. In such hands, the portion below the palm also is equally broad. The nails are small and broad. People possessing such a hand are quite skillful. Such hands are known as 'useful hands'.
They are people who are punctual, are believers of law and order, are efficient, are people who perform right deeds, maintain balance between thought and action and respect seniors. Such people are utilitarian in nature and analyze things from the usage point of view. Due to their industrious and sincere nature, they often oust intelligent and talented people. They are honest and maintain good friendship. They are cautious and only after considering the pros and cons they take any step. They avoid fighting and violence of any type. They face people bravely who oppose them or resent them. One of the drawbacks is that they over-analyze and investigate other's statements carefully. Because of this people often get tired or suspicious about them.
The square hand can again be categorized into four categories:
- Square hand and small squarish fingers.
- Square hand with long fingers.
- Square hand with conical fingers.
- Square hand with spatulate fingers.
i) Square hand with squarish fingers :-
Such people are industrious, hard working and are very witty in earning money. They analyze everything from business point of view. Their approach is very practical and pragmatic. They seldom believe in rumours and often investigate themselves anything and deciding anything. Some of them are often of stubborn nature. Their approach is very much materialistic and is inclined towards making a fast buck.
ii) Square hand with long fingers :-
Such people are very logical and like reasoning. Hence, they are successful in professions requiring these skills. They are totally trustworthy. They are intellectually more developed and are benevolent by nature.
iii) Square hand with conical fingers :-
Such people are inclined towards music, literature etc. and often succeed as musicians and artists, authors. Such people although are cent percent musicians. They lack creative abilities and because of these limitations cannot get fame or money.
iv) Square hand with spatulate fingers :-
These people are inventive by nature. They are efficient in making machines, gears and are often successful in fields of Engineering, electrical or machinery.
Due to the hand being squarish, they are all the more practical in approach
3) Philosophical Hand :-
Generally, the hands are long and are pointed. In comparison to other hands, the fingers are especially long and slender. The structure of this hand is alike the square hand and many characteristics resemble that of a square hand. But the effects are seen differently. Usually, there is no space between the fingers of such hands. Such people are very thoughtful and without caring much about money, they are successful in activities that enhance mental and spiritual energy. They usually decide their own field. One can see influence of intellectual reasoning and research and occultism on their personalities. They are usually writers, authors, advisors and philosophers. They are usually introvert, serious and speak very little.
In case, the fingers of such hands are knotted, then they are of investigative nature and like to meticulously analyze everything.
