BEHAVIOUR OF MEN WITH WIDOWS

Since long, behaviour of men with women in general have been a bone of contention in our society. Though peaceful, co-existence of both of them is necessary to keep the human society alive. But because of ego, behaviour of men towards women is not entirely free from faults.

A woman generally spends her life in service of man who may be in any guise like father, brother, husband or children. Most of the women accept their position as destiny and despite all atrocities never raise a voice in protest. But what do they get in return? Ignorance, insult and even abuses-physical as well as mental. Men folk particularly feel contended in insulting women. Abusing, beating and physical assault on women are common now-a-days. No religion on earth allows men to be cruel to women. God never forgives such men who behave cruelly with women. Such men get notorious in this world and meet great misfortune in another.

Controlled by greed, some people marry off their daughters to unsuitable grooms like aged, diseased, mentally retarded, disabled etc. Such people who ruin their daughter's lives suffer in hell. Hence, everybody with a sound mind must shun such type of behaviour.Women must be treated well with respect. Women must never be neglected. When a male member falls ill, he is treated and attended with utmost care. But female members always remain wanting for such a careful treatment when they fall ill. But such kind of partiality is like accumulation of poison. Hence men should treat women impartially.

Most of the faults that have been discussed so far are mostly rooted in the men's attitude towards women. It is the ill treatment from men folk due to which women take to the wrong path. If men give up their bad ways of ill treating women, then most of the evils will vanish from the society and equilibrium can be achieved among both the halves of the society.

Man's behaviour with widows is particularly reprehensible. Position of widow in a society is akin to that of the tongue amidst teeth. A slight slip may lead to disastrous consequences. It is shameful for us that a widow who has already lost her husband is treated so badly in society. A lot needs to be done in this direction. It is our collective responsibility to see that no widow is ill-treated or denied the respect she deserves. Widowhood is the most unfortunate thing not only for a woman but also for her family as well.

Complete self-control is the most important thing for the parents, in-laws and guardians of a widow. Only then they can inspire a widow to observe total self-control. Guardians of a widow must be particularly cautious as there are lot many people who are willing to misguide a widow, but none of them will be eager to accept a widow as his wife. Such guardians must abandon all luxuries. Only then they can teach her to live a simple life. If they are unable to help a widow financially, they may at least guard her chastity from all kinds of lure.

Now-a-days more than often false allegations are framed by the near ones against the character of a widow to grab her property. She is then denied proper food and often expelled from home. But such people cannot escape from the curse of a mournful soul. Such people must fear the supreme authority i.e. God and shed their demonic deeds. Only then they will attain salvation.
