The month was over and the mind of Yudhsithira had found peace. At the advice of Sage Vyasa he came to Hastinapura. The procession had Yudhisthira's chariot, drawn by sixteen white horses, Bhima holding the rein, Arjuna holding the white umbrella, Nakula and Sahdeva holding the Chamars on side. In the chariot behind his, was Yuyutsu, the only surviving son of Dhristarastra. Behind him were Krishna and Satyaki in a chariot. Yudhisthira, preceded by Dhritarastra and followed by others entered the great hall of the Kuru Kings. He was honoured by all citizens and brahmins recited verses. He was taken to the throne by Krishna. His eyes were full of tears, as he had fulfilled his promise. The king was crowned amidst chanting of the Vedas by brahmins and the sweet music was being played and the flowers rained incessantly. Bhima was crowned Yuvaraja. Vidura was appointed Minister, Sanjaya was in charge of the treasury, Nakula was given the responsibility of the army, Arjuna was the commander of the army and incharge of the foreign affairs, Sahdeva was the personal protector of the king and Dhaumya was the Kulaguru.
