PARIKSHITA - THE ASVAMEDHA YAGYA

Vyasa once came to the court of Yudhisthira. He suggested that the king should perform Ashwamedah Yagya. Everyone liked the idea. This would keep the king occupied and help him forget his grief. Krishna and his Vrishni clan came to Hastinapura to attend the yagya. Uttara gave a birth to a child. It was dead at his birth. Ashvatthama astra had killed it. Krishna took the child in his hand and it came to life and started wailing loudly. All these lamentations of the women of the Pandavas house turned into shrieks of joy. Krishna was drained out of his spiritual energy in reviving the child.

A month passed. The child was named Parikshita. At the same time Yudhisthira returned from the Himalayas where he had gone to take out the treasure of the marutas. Everyone was extremely happy to know that Abhimanyu's son was quite well. Then sage Vyasa came and began the preparations for Ashwameda. Now Yudhisthira had come out of his sorrow. Everyone was happy to notice the change.

Arjuna went to the entire world with the sacrificial horse. All the kings accepted the superiority of the Pandavas. The king gave lavish gifts to the Pandavas and all were invited to attend Ashwamedha Yagya. Arjuna returned to the Hastinapura. The Yagya was great success. All the kings returned to their kingdoms. Krishna, Balarama and Satyaki too returned to Dwarka after spending sometime in Hastinapura.
