Once the wedding celebrations were over there was a great assembly of kings in the court of Virata. Balarama, Krishna, Draupada, Satyaki were there. Besides the Pandavas, Sampa and Pradyumna, sons of Krishna were there. Newly wed Abhimanyu was also there after some exchange of pleasantries and courtesies among the galaxy of the princes gathered there, they came to the core issue. The issue uppermost in every one's mind was how to approach the Kauravas and make them see reason. They must return the kingdom of Yudhisthira which they had usurped with dishonesty. Krishna was the first to get up and speak.
There was a hush in the hall. Krishna spoke about all the injustices done to the Pandavas and their sufferings. He said that the Pandavas were quite capable of destroying the Kauravas and to take the entire kingdom. But Yudhisthira being the paragon of righteousness was not to deviate from the path of Dharma, even by an iota. Since, the Pandavas had completed their term of twelve year of exile and one year of living in disguise, it was only fair that their kingdom was returned to them. Krishna suggested that some envoy of high birth and character be sent to the court of Hastinapura. The envoy should impress upon the elders like Dhritarastra about the injustices done to the Pandavas. Their kingdom should be restored to them without any further delay.
Balarama was the next to speak. He blamed Yudhisthira also for these unfortunate happenings. His impulse of gambling was also to be blamed. He was of the opinion that Duryodhana be requested to restore the kingdom of the Pandavas.
Satyaki was more forthright. He blamed dishonesty of the Kauravas for the present situation. He wanted to wage a war upon the Kauravas and to restore the kingdom of the Pandavas to them without any further ado. He was not in favor of sending envoys and messengers. Direct attack on the Kauravas was his solutions to the vexed questions.
Then it was Draupada's turn to speak. The war veteran said that, though the solution suggested by Satyaki did have certain merits, it would be wise to rely upon the sanity of the elders in the court of Hastinapura, like Bhishma, Drona, Kripa and Dhritarastra who were expected to act in a fair manner to rectify the injustice done to the Pandavas. He suggested that he could send his priest to the court of the Kauravas to find a peaceful solution of the problem, if possible. The proposals of Drupada were approved. It was decided to send a messenger to the court of the Kauravas.
Thereafter Virata honored all the guests assembled for the wedding and the guests departed happily. But the near clouds had been seen on the horizon. The kings were seen aligning either on the Pandavas side or on the side of the Kauravas. Soon armies would gather in Hastinapura and in the Matsya.
