1) If the Mercury is present in the ascendant house or the first house of the horoscope of a person, he is handsome, jolly, intelligent, a scholar, charitable, a speaker of truth and he also has excellent physique and resides in foreign countries.

But, if the Mercury is under the influence of an auspicious planet, the person is an annihilator of his enemies, and gets rewards for his good actions.

12) If the Mercury is present in the twelfth house of the horoscope of a person, he is a handicap, poor, has aspirations for others' wealth and other women, he is free from addiction and is also a benevolent man.
