SPIRITUAL DIALOGUE

According to Acharya Shantideva, if one has to create joy and eternal happiness in this world which is full of sorrow and misery, one shall have to see this earth as an entity and not as different countries and states with demarcated boundaries. One should see pain and misery with a universal point of view and should vociferously resent any classification. If one does not adhere to this ideology, we shall indulge in selfishness within our boundaries and in this process of acquiring happiness for us, we shall directly or indirectly inflict pain upon others.
A sense of oneness and brotherhood is imperative for creation of eternal happiness. Country, caste, communities, individuals are merely tertiary factors, just like the different organs of our body together create a human body, not in their segregation but in their totality.

Although the functions of the world could be perceived as different at different places but they have a common heart. It will have to be considered inseparable and we should follow it along with its share of happiness and sorrow. In this way, wealth earned shall be global wealth whose benefits should reach the meanest creature.

According to Acharya Shantideva, it is futile to engage in accumulating happiness for personal interests only because until the 'I' (The Ego) is not eliminated, there is no escape from pain and sorrow.

'If I give then what shall I have?' indulging in this type of thinking, human shall end up as evil spirits and nothing else. Rather one should question oneself -'If I take everything what shall I give others?' thereby in such a manner, man shall transform himself into God.

One can only become happy in this world if he desires happiness for others. People who strive for others' happiness, attain the state of Sarvasampad. On the contrary, those who inflict pain upon others for personal gains, go to hell and suffer limitlessly.

The quest to enlightenment is unimaginable without the virtues of altruism. For proper moral development, Acharya Shantideva has enumerated 2 factors-
(i) Nurturing a sense of oneness and meditating on the same (PARATMA SAMTA DHYAN).
(ii) Considering yourself as He and He as you and meditating on the same (PARATMA SAMTA DHYAN)

One shall analyze these above 2 points comprehensively under the topic 'DHYAN PARMITA'.
